Default Homemade skins in multiplayer - 01-01-2003, 04:19 PM

There were a few skins that I downloaded that interfered with some of the other skins that I have. I went into those files and did a little renaming of the .tga files, but leaving the character name (.tik name, however you like it) the same (i.e. german_waffenss_nco). While in mp, will people with that character (and unchanged .tga names) see the skin or will they see the server default skin?

First off, people online can't see what skin you use. If you want them to be able to see, the skin has to be on your computer, their computer, and the server. It's not likely that it's going to work out like that, so don't worry about what other people can see.

Second, if you change the tga names without editing the shader file, the skins won't look right on your computer. Go into the .shader file (with Notepad), and change the file it uses. For example, it says something like map texture texture/models/human/blahblahblah/pants.tga. If you renamed "pants.tga" to "kilt.tga", you have to change the file name in the shader file. Save the shader file with the same name, and don't change anything else. Make sure the shader goes in a scripts folder.
