Hi. I'm running a Radeon 9700 and yesterday all of my games were running dandy happy: , but then, when i fired up the beast today, I'm getting SHIT for fps. I'm talking 10-15 fps when I should be rockin' it up to at least 130. TELL ME WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!

Yessir, I have. No luck...I've tried everything from updating drivers to reinstalling the game(s) to hitting my PC with my hand very hard at a high velocity.

That really dosen't make sence, unless you didn't have SP1 installed, and it self-installed using the auto-update or something. Thats unheard of, but would be lame. No clue, d00d.

Radeons are known for what can only be effectively described as "crashing" . After a little use they die out and start running like only half the mem is workin on them, so if ya got a 32 mb card, imagine its a 16 now. 64 is now 32, etc...

That's crazy. I never liked ATI to boot, cuz of their old cards. I always prefered Voodoo. Good thing I never got RADEON.

I have an ATI Radeon 8500 128 megger. I run at 300 fps with no lag.
I run the game in 1280x1024 with all the bells and whistles maxed. It doesnt fail me. I think for the money it costs, at this point in time its overkill and too expensive for the small gain you get in fps and processor speed. I have played with both the 9700 and the geforce4 on two different alienware systems, and I couldnt tell the difference. Unless youre made of money go with the 8500 128.

Turn off AIM, the four server monitor programs youre running, the gamevoice channel, the roger wilco channel, Kazaa, and Norton Antivirus.
Turn on your local spam blocker program. Close the internet browser youre using and shut down your email.

That might help. biggrin:
