There's so many good ones mentioned on this thread already; Rik Mayall, Tim Allen, Jack Black and Kyle Gass, Denis Leary, etc.
But my favorites will have to be Billy Connolly (whom i had the plesure of seeing live...funniest shit ever) and monty Python's Michael Palin (probably most famous for his 'Lumberjack' sketch, and being the Roman guy with the lisp in 'Life of Brian')

My goodness, you really hate me don't ya?
Take a number and sit the fuck down.
Now, it's very hard to determine the funniest person alive. We all have different tastes in humour, but the majority of the people in here have said George Carlin.......... could he be the one?

Yeah british comdies are the best, no others come close.
I was going to say the young ones, but this thread is about funny people not funny shows so i just said rik mayal as hes the only one i can remember his name. ade edmundson is another one i think.
Rik made some apperances in Blackadder. as Flash. Funny as hell biggrin:

Untill this thread - i hadnt heard of george carlin. I dont even recognise his face. As long as he isnt like chris rock who does repetitive nigger jokes then he seems ok to me.

wow you haven't heard of Carlin????? Well I would say he is the Grandfather/King of modern standup comedy. His stuff from the 70 to the early 90's is great. His stuff in the late 90's til now is good, but he's gotten really bitter and mean. Almost to the point where its not funny, its more about him trying to make a point.
He has to be one of the smartest comedian I have ever heard. His mastering and play on words is probably the best ever. I highly recommend you pick up anything thing from the 70's - early 90's and listen/watch. You will laugh your ass off.
No nigger jokes.
