Why not uninstall it, reboot, close all the background programs, and then try a fresh install.

no problem with XP, my friend had it on his and I used to play against him (i had 98 and he had XP)
as always, it's probably something with your video card - update the drivers
if that's not it then u gotta try the re-install
there are also probably other programs running that are mucking it up
good luck, that game is sooo fun freak:

It's not XP, I've got XP and it runs fine on my computer.
It's not the clock speed or amount of memory on your computer, I ran it on my old computer which was much slower than yours.
I don't know what it could be, prehaps check the speed of your CD ROM Drive agianst the requirments, and check your video card specs agianst the requirments of the game also.

hmm... then it's probably the video card that's causing the problem, as Da_Bian as already suggested, try updating your video card drivers, I had a similar problem with the game "Rainbow Six" and thats what solved it.

I dont know much about tech stuff but it usally ends up being a video card problem. I would try a compleate uninstall then close every thing down and try reinstall. BTW empire earth is better. Especally when you have the add-on
