Default To all having problems with SMC routers: They do WORK! - 01-30-2003, 11:08 AM

After reading all of the forums I could find on the net dealing with SMC routers and Medal of Honor, I finally got my server up and running using a SMC router. There's alot to it but it's not impossible. If you want to E-mail me, go ahead: tonyskahan@suscom.net. I will talk you through what I did to get my server up and running and VISIBLE in GAMESPY and in "BROWSE INTERNET SERVERS". I just want to help anybody out I can because if it wasn't for the online forums, I would have never figured it out. ed:

I also had a Barricade and could not even play on a public server!! The server lists would time out and I could hardly connect to a game. After days of updates, talking to tech support, and opening ports I just returned it. Basic firewall rules state that you allow everything out from the lan, and it should also allow Wan communication on ports that have been acked from an internal source. It seemed as though it could make the connections but would drop them. It's a shame too, great price, great features, great box. I'd but SMC in the future.

My barracade works fine. Their literature doesnt explain how to forward ports. Part of the problem is the terminology. I believe you need to set up virtual servers to "forward ports". The best info the configuration guide has is the 800 number. Tech support will talk you right thru it, no problem.
