Default Anyone play WWII online? - 02-11-2003, 04:00 PM

This post has probably been up before, but does anyone play and is it worth it? One of my friends plays, he's a Colonel in the German High Command and he loves it, plays it every night for a serveral hours. I was checking out the website and it looks cool. Anybody play? Comments? I was thinking of joining. Is it better than BF42?

I played at launch for a couple months and was disgusted, mainly because of my crappy FPS.

When I got a new system, and saw how much better the game was looking, I decided to resubscribe.

Oh man.... it's now my favorite game ever. Sure the graphics are dated, but the gameplay is amazing. So much strategy (if you're in a squad, nothing like getting a column of 15 panzers rolling down the road), and an awesome WWII feel. This is a game where when you get a kill, it's a very cool experience. I play everyday pretty much, actually just got done attacking a town with about 30 other people.

if you're the type that doesn't mind a slow paced game, then definitly pick it up. I would pay for it for the flight sim alone... flying just rules in the game. Add tanks and infantry and boats you can strafe and you'll never wanna stop :P

If you have your CD key you can just give that to him. You can download the latest patches and that is the game, just need the CD key to play.

In this game the maps are HUGE, like a little too big. You can fly none stop for a long ass time. Battles can last hours or even days.

Cool, bf and wwiiol dont even compare.

Bf is just a fun little frag em up, kinda like quake with wwii models.

WWIIOL is on such a bigger scale, and much more realistic.

It's modeled 1/2 scale of Europe, with no zones.

i have been playing ww2ol since june 24th 2001, i play for the axis 1st Fallschirmjager rgt. my screen name is doggreen. perhaps a legend of ww2ol i have trained 200 axis marksmen in the sniper school i held. this game actually took time and effort to learn how to aim.

trust me joe, days! one fierce battle for brussles in june lasted +40 days. this game takes serious skill to play, and one of the steepest learning curves ever. its buggy as hell though and i wouldnt buy it just yet (you will have to download about 12 patches) the game currently costs 12 a month
