PSP feature: Merging Layers? -
02-11-2003, 11:10 PM
I've seen this done with skins, here's an example:
You use Paint Shop Pro 7 to copy an image, in this example, a face. You want to paste it over another face of equal size, the only issue is the face under it is lighter/darker than the face you are pasting on top of it, hence the new face is too light/dark for the neck, ears, etc. ..
There's a way somehow in PSP to blend both of them together to make a solid color, so it almost looks like the face is acutally part of the neck, ears etc. Does anyone know how to do this? I'm almost positive the method is called "Merging Layers".

You can merge layers all day and they will never come out the way you want them to.. you can not take equal pixels and expect them to merge with out extreame differences.... been there done that! sorry! Just need to experiment with cloning and sutble changes to faces and/or other tgas..

A tip. Change color balance several times in a row if need to make the colour look like its part of the rest of it. Erase edges of pasted layer using 15 - 70 % opacity.

R||F is right. The command you seek is in the layers menu under "merge" "merge all (flatten)" just plain ol flattens the image, the other is "All Visible" not really sure how that 1 works in entirety, but i do know that it wont merge masks n stuff like flatten will.

Well, what I did was this. I got 2 images open. I copied the face of one image using the lasso, resized it, then pasted it on top of the other. So, now it's a floating selection on top of the different color ears/neck, etc. From here what exactly should I do?

You erase everything in white, or the closest to the skin color?

I didn't move it again, it's in MMS. I can't delete the offtopic one, or it will delete this too. I'm kinda confused by what you mean about the box with arrows, but I'll have to look at it when I'm home.
