Default 9700pro = bad fps?! - 02-12-2003, 09:16 AM

I just bought a 9700pro and I am getting less than stellar fps in Spearhead. I've messed with the ati settings and even the in game settings, to no avail. I used to run the game on an ECS k7vta3 mobo w/amd xp 1600+, 512mb pc2100 ram, gf3 ti 200. I am now running the same processor on Soyo kt400 dragon ultra w/ 1024mb pc2100 ram, and an ati 9700pro. On my first rig, I could hover around the 120fps range with everything set to whatever the autoconfig settings were. Now I'm getting 45-50 using the same autoconfig. Is there anyway to completely turn off AntiAliasing and Aniso Filtering other than putting the OpenGL and Direct3D sliders to Performance. I have AA and AF set to Application preference. Also, when I use autoconfigure, both spearhead and allied assault say that my vid mem range is 64, not 128. Please help!

This is all done within the ATI Graphics board settings in the Control Panel. I don't have a ATI video card, so I'm not positive on how exactly to do it. You can either wait for a responce for someone who knows how, or look into a program called RivaTuner.

MOH will report all 128 meg cards as 64.

I have the ATI 9700pro and get very good FPS. I also run my MOH a very high res.

Make sure you deleted and removed all your old video card drivers. Check out :
http://www.rage3d.com/
on how to uninstall your old drivers and the correct procedure, for installing your new drivers. I would also recommend, DX9 and cat3.1

Good luck, you should be seeing much better fps then what you listed.

well he has to have the old drivers uninstalled.
If your running with that new motherboard and havent formated,
then thats your problem right there..

But I am assuming you already did that.. right?

NVRefresh Tools. It's a proggie used to overclock your video card & change some settings (VSync, Anti-Aliasing, etc)

Personally, I like RivaTuner much better.

Thanx for the advice, rudedog. I did just that. I put windows onto a larger, faster harddrive and installed dx9 with latest catalyst drivers and it runs like a dream. I'm getting an AMD xp 2600+ tomorrow and can't wait to REALLY push this game to it's limits.
