The most brutal war years -
02-14-2003, 02:32 PM
I think World War I is the most brutal war out of all the other war including World War 2 because they have to live in dirty trenches and they use chemical weapons the most, and the fact when soldiers get up and run toward the other trenches, they get mowed down by machine guns and that alone killed Milliions.... What do you guys think? freak:

Heh heh...
Stand in a line with 200 other guys, point your muskets at the other 200 guys standing opposite to you, fire heated metal balls at eachother, the people nest to you get maimed by a skipping cannonball, eventually charge the enemy with your bayonets, get badly slashed in the arm by an officer's sabre, go to a field hospital, and get it CHOPPED OFF WITH NO MORPHINE, find out your stump got infected and die at the ripe old age of 24.

Mentally, I'd say definitely WW1. It must have been VERY depressing sitting on frontlines in Western France....It physically would have looked like Hell. Miles and miles of mud, years of dead bodies, rats, chemicals, unexploded shells, as far as the eyes can see.
I think the most painful, physically, would have been all wars pre-20th century.

I would say WWI. Huddle in a cold wet trench, get the order to charge watch everyone get mowed down by machine gun and tangled in barbed wire or gassed. No relief because the enemy isnt leaving their trench, no medics. The next day the enemy does the same thing. Over the course of a year, the line moves maybe 300 yards, no real winner to the war. Civil war is right up there too.
