Force Models, Kicking for Authentic Model Skins, & such -
02-18-2003, 05:55 PM
I understand that the server admins have the right to manage their servers, to play the way they want, but I have an opinion.
When I use a skin, i.e. german_luftwaffe_falschirmjager I always get kicked for a non stock skin. This skin is period correct, and not neon, and I wish to use it. I don't support cheating, but the skin question is one that will persist.
Can someone create a server filter that actually "looks" at the skin to determine if it is indeed a "neon, or scientist/snow skin" and warn on that basis.
Also, everyone should know that using a force model option in game helps performance. Admins hate the force, becasue some gamers use the snow, or scientist skins, but can something be done to help this situation.
Thank you for the fun.

Well you can make a mod to turn off force models, or a mod to force everyone to wear a fair and balanced skin instead of the white one's..
Other than that. Your going to have to switch your custom skin to a default one in order to play on thoughs servers.. No one can see you wearing them anyways. And if the server don't allow them. You will just have to deal with it by changing your skins. And don't blame the servers.. Blame people like MPowell for finding a color that peirced though walls, skinning it, and giving it out to everyone with a modem to appear more elite on his computer.

You dont know things so dont talk. Powell didnt create the see through walls skins, and its not a color that pierces walls, its GL commands in the shader. The problem is that cheat skins can be named to any skin name, so your skin could be non-stock. Force models being banned decreases the effect of using a cheat skin becuase not everyone will show up as it.

I am glad I didn't create the original Chameleon Skin. Actually it was called the Always See Me Skin or some crap, created by IssisX. Then BoBaLLoOo made it change colors, now known as the Chameleon Skin. And since then there have been like 2,000 variations of the Chameleon Skin. Yes I made a couple, and I really regret it. They are useless, and it really takes no skill to use them. Point and shoot. I can never say I am sorry enough, but I truly am. Since this is a game forum and not real life, I am not going to bend over backwards to prove my honesty.
Maybe one day, there will be a cutdown on the cheats in MOH. Its too beautiful of a game to ruin. Sadly, it took me too long to realize that. The damage was already done. If I could take it all back, I would do it in a second. But since I can't, then I have to face the consequences. Since I quit making cheats, I have been dealing with all of you. Granted, I was harsh to some of you when you attacked me, but for the most part I let most of the comments go. Glad I did. Now is all settled down the way it should be.
Good luck to all you server admins. Sorry if I made your job that much harder. Take care everyone.
Later.

I don't care.. You will have to make a shoot through walls and walk through walls cheat before you can own me with Cham skins.. I just camp my sorry ass off the whole time.. seriously though, I assume someone will be around every corner already knowing where I am.. Hell I never walk and i'm constantly doing voice crap. So it's not hard to figure out where I am. I've always played like that.. Seeing me alittle earlier doesn't help you any.. I do not stick my head out in places where I might have crosshairs trained on me. I've been like this always.. Because it doesn't take a cham skin to be a sniper already trained on a closed door. Only a fool would open the door and assume he can't get instantly hit in his current stance. It's all about the super evasive Mr_nStuff stile. w0rdemup to that.

Too bad. There are some really good "legitimate" custom skins out there.

Jedi, I agree to that for sure! Some of the best looking skins, that were worked over for days, can't even be used because of what has become.
I'll play the game always, but to use custom, authentic, or as Jedi said "legitimate" skins would be nice.
Too much work went into these skins to say that the actions of others rules out the innocent.

Well that really has nothing to do with cheating.. Thoughs skins wouldn't show on the server less the server hosted them.. So the problem with good custom skins these days is the server has to have them aswell as the clients for everyone to see them.. This is also lame because if you took away ForceModels and the server-side skin restriction. Making MOH more like the Original Quake where you could see whatever skin other people were wearing as long as you downloaded the skins yourself.. That would help spot alot of the cheaters. Well I was pretty bummed out when they took that option away in games.
With Quake.. I must of downloaded 200mb worth of 8bit skins.. It's was a simpler time. But the skins that came out for Quake were still sweet compaired to the defaults.. And the beauty with down loading so many skins.. Back then you would join a server with so many skins..no one would be wearing the same skin.. You had super hero's running around. All kinds of stuff.. I used to make aliases to change my skins at certian times. It was alot of fun.
Oh well.. Our server hosts some good skins.
