There is a major difference between camping and defending an objective.

SOME people do guard the 88. But when you have an American with a thompson hiding in the top floor of the very first building, or hiding back at the spawn site, until everyone else is dead that IS camping.

Of course once there are more maps, etc. it will not seem like the dame old wait. I don't have a problem with a german or two guarding the 88. But it gets a bit old when it is the same guy over and over and over. Or worse, when it is half the german team.

But for the most part I do not see it camping when it is the germans in the Hunt map. But it IS camping when it is the Americans who are scared to come forward because they were slaughtered by six blitzes in a row lol.

"CAMPING" is OK if you are a german. That's what you suppose to do. I have absolutely no problem with Germans camping any place. It's when allies camp at the begining of the level. That makes me go crazy. Don't you have an objective to do. The fools just stay by the rocks or in the back some where hiding like pussies. ooooo, I can't stand that. They don't help fight they just hide. And later die

CitznFish, excuse me? Don't get me started on that NorCal vs. SoCal shite, biatch!

LordLovat, yes. You are totally right. Can't stand those Allied puusies that squat at the spawn site. The guy on the roof can be hella annoying at times. But so is the predictable nade slaughter down dead mans alley.

"But it IS camping when it is the Americans who are scared to come forward because they were slaughtered by six blitzes in a row lol."

Yea, that's called LACK OF TEAM WORK!

yup my thoughts EXACTLY....in a game of 8 players 2 germans should stay behind to "guard" the 88.Whilst the others go and either set-up ambush points in the MANY choke-points,or,rush the allies as they enter the Town. The decision to stay or go SHOULD be based on where you spawn...there are MANY spawn points for the axis players.the few who stay to guard should be the ones who spawn near the church...if you try and run from there to the town, the allies will already be in the town waiting for you.The ones who spawn in the axis-held section of the town are the ones who ambush/attack.I myself am TIRED of hearing that the germans "Camp"....it is our JOB to be defensive....hence DEFEND...which means that the allies are on the offense and have an upper hand,so all we can do is DEFEND...so DO NOT BITCH and Whine when our snipers take you out as you enter the town,or you get popped by an AMBUSHING german machine-gunner....instead of WASTING your breath complaining, why not try and use some TACTICS when clearing the town. i.e.:the good old house-to house search and "slicing-the-pie" maneuver.these are BASIC stratagies and if followed HSOULD result in victory.so while you are typing we are just setting up another ambush point......

no one said war was EASY.........

If anyone kenw any actual military tactics, the whole point of a defensive position is to be "dug-in" which means to sit your ass in a spot and wait for the bloody enemy comes and blow the hell outta him. for the allies there are advantages to this obviously and if both sides do this ( allies rush and advance and germans defend) the game will be hard but not a friggin mission inmpossible so stop bitching becasue you are the same bitches who bitch about "realism"

The only time I think it's lame when the Germans camp is when there's one German and one American left. Everyone is stuck waiting to play again meanwhile, the German has no idea where the other guy is and could just sit there for the remaining time. Go out and find the one remaining American so everyone else can play!

In other situations as described above, it's perfectly acceptable for the German's to camp/do their job.

Why should the remaining German seek out the American when it is the Americans' objective to infiltrate and take out the 88?

I agree that it can be a pain to watch 1 vs. 1. I've ended up in countless 1 vs. 1 matches, not because I've been hiding/camping, but because I survived combat and my opponent is somewhat cagey.

Now, after having said all that, I must admit that I do tire of waiting for the remaining American to place the charge. I usually DO seek them out. If I cannot find them within a certain amount of time I will commit suicide with a grenade to get to the next round.

No one is happy watching other people play. Once you've died it can be annoying to watch a 1 versus 1 between two players who don't have a clue.

However, when you have two players who are a little more experienced, those one on ones can be very interesting to watch.

Camping as an Ally is sometimes acceptable. I agree the players who sit at the rocks on the road until they get hunted down will never get anywhere. Same for those who camp the ladder room at the start and won't come out no matter what.

However, there's nothing wrong with a little camping to suss the enemy out.

I've broken the perimeter and checked the player list to see it was me versus one other guy, one i knew who was behind me.

In some cases I'll just run and set the bomb as soon as I can. My opinion is if you do that it puts pressure on the Axis players.

However, this time I cut back and waited in the room on the corner right at the perimeter and waited.

Now some might construe this as camping, but I don't. I call it out-smarting the enemy.

The guy ran headlong into my trap and I killed him before he saw me.

If an Ally uses stealth to trick his enemy, be it by camping or walking, and it works then he deserves to win.

Yeh, sure the objective is to destroy the 88, but the other objective is to be the last alive.

When you're the last one alive you should be able to do whatever you like to stay alive. If that means you wait in the first room until the Axis walks up and gets killed, then so be it.

If an Ally waits until the time runs out, though, it's called cowardice.

No one should complain if they're dead and can't wait until they get to play again. If you were more careful you'd be the last one alive, wouldn't you?

OMFG, FuBarGrn, Capt. Coleman you guys hit the nail square on the head! You have fully defined my post.
Lt_Col_Tall, yes if gets down to 1 on 1, get up off your ass and search and destroy. If your playing Axis go back to town. If your Allies, for Christ sake man, go to the 88.
Ok, I feel vindicated. I'll go back to the church steple and shut my pie-hole now.

Tactically, either side is entitled to play the game exactly as they wish. The US side is on a timer...if they camp they are only reducing their time slot. That works against them.

The Germans are entitled to defend the gun any way they can. That's what the map/objective is about. If that means the whole team plots up, so be it. That's the challenge for the US side, to crack the defence and either kill all the defenders or spike the gun.

Team play is what this game excells at. Trying to play quake on it is really lame.

Oh boy...yeah Bro, weak and BROWN! That must be why it's so smoggy down there in LA LA land. Makes my eyes burn, starts me choking and shit. I grew in in Orange county man. Been there done that. I prefer the rolling green hills, the trees, blue sky and oh yea, the empty surf. (Unlike that HB, 'Bu and Tresles scene.)
