Default Ok FX or 9700 - 03-04-2003, 11:29 PM

Welp, since Nvidia has fucked me over with the fx saying that theres not enough chips, and that ill have to wait probly a month, i was wondering if maybe the 9700 was a better choice than FX since both are same price and everything.

And I run everything on 1024x 768 if that makes a differnce.

Thanks

Well im sure this will influence your decision...I had just bought a Radeon 9700 Pro and when i put it in, it sucked major ass and got around 17 fps all the way up to 500 just when it was a black screen. but usually it would be at 50-60. Then i was like wtf and returned it, and bought another one by a different company. The same thing happened with that card. Two 9700's that sucked shit. Now i am waiting for the FX to come out sometime before March 10th. I am pretty dam sure this card will show a dramitic increase in performace and quality. I hope this helped.

9700 PRO.

For the price difference, the Geforce FX is only slightly (minimally) better.

benchmarks show the 9700 Pro is absurdly better for its price. Reich I dunno what the hell is wrong with yours, maybe your comp can't deal with such 1337ness. biggrin:

My friend has a 3.06HT P4 cpu, 512 megs of Rambus ram, a radeon 9700
pro and the other goodies... and boy, let me tell you: Splinter Cell runs at
1600*1200 with all details on as smooth as airborne butter. The card rocks.

Sounds good, Splinter Cell runs fairly well with everything on high at 800x600. It gets choppy at some points. Considering I have a 1.2 GHZ Athlon and a GeForce 4 TI4200 with 64 megs, I think that is aaaiiight.

I have a 9500 pro that i picked up very cheap and the lil' sucker rocks!! The 9700 pro is that much better so if the $$$ situation isn't a problem, go with the 9700 Pro. Just make sure you have a good strong power supply (most peeps neglect in this area).

Make sure you have DDR ram and at least 1.6GHZ of cpu power: otherwise,
your entire system will be the bottleneck. In other words, you will NOT be able
to fully appreciate your 9700PRO with the tit machine you have!

biggrin:

i donno the FX has some new things incorporated into it, but its really bulky and expensive, and requires a vacume of a fan on it so its up to you to choose, 9700 is getting kinda old now tho and ATI is working on a new one thats supposed to beat the FX horribly
