Default Black Adder Goes Forth - 03-05-2003, 07:37 AM

This was so the greatest show I've ever seen, fookin' hilarious, It was a WW1 Comedy... God damn... biggrin: If you haven't seen this show, see it! 1989. get it on DVD today!

My choice quote...

George: You know, that's the thing I don't really understand about you, Cap.
You're a professional soldier, and yet, sometimes you sound as though
you bally well haven't enjoyed soldiering at all.

Edmund: Well, you see, George, I did like it, back in the old days when the
prerequisite of a British campaign was that the enemy should under
no circumstances carry guns -- even spears made us think twice. The
kind of people we liked to fight were two feet tall and armed with
dry grass.

George: Now, come off it, sir -- what about Mboto Gorge, for heaven's sake?

Edmund: Yes, that was a bit of a nasty one -- ten thousand Watusi warriors
armed to the teeth with kiwi fruit and guava halves. After the battle,
instead of taking prisoners, we simply made a huge fruit salad. No,
when I joined up, I never imagined anything as awful as this war.
I'd had fifteen years of military experience, perfecting the art of
ordering a pink gin and saying "Do you do it doggy-doggy?" in
Swahili, and then suddenly four-and-a-half million heavily armed
Germans hoved into view. That was a shock, I can tell you.

From what i remember at the end you see them charging over the trench and then it going into slow-mo, the the battlescene fading into a field of poppies.

No joe it was a very funny series probably of about 6-8 episodes very funnily bringing home the serious point of how ridiculous world war 1 was when you had millions dying over gaining 100 yards.
Only thing that worries me is if you will like the british humour as not all do biggrin:

dooms.

Ahhh, blackadder. A gem of a british comedy.

Blackadder goes forth was my fav though but it is well worth checking out the other 3 series.

6 episodes in each series. Flash was in Private Plane.

"Mind if i use your phone? If word gets out that im missing 500 girls will kill themselves, and i would want them on my conscience.........not when they ought to be on my face"

* * * *

Flash: "The first this to remember is, always treat your kite like a woman."

Geroge "How do you mean sir? Do you mean take her home at the weekend to meet your mother?"

Flash "No, i mean get inside her 5 times a day and take her to heaven and back"

Blackadder "Im beginning to see why they suffragette movement want the vote"

Flash "Any bird who wants to suffer-a-jet movement gets my vote! Right, thats it, see you in ten minutes for take off."

Blackadder "Hang on, hang on, what about the months of training?"

Flash "hey wet pants, youre not in the Womens Auxiliary Balloon corp now, youre in the twenty minuters"

Capt Darling "Uh, sir, sir"

Flash "Yes, prat at the back"

Darling "I think we'd all be intrigued to know. Why are you called the twenty minuters?"

George "Mr Thicko! Imagine not knowing that!"

Flash "Simple really - the average life expectancy of a new pilot is twenty minutes"

Darling "Aha"

Blackadder "Life expectancy of twenty minutes?"

Flash "Right! gogges on, chock away - last one backs a homo. Hurray!"

Haha yeah, i feel sorry for the world that has yet to discover Blackadder.

I have the book that contains the Scripts, and some hilarious things made up for the characters, like the Menu in Mrs Miggins Pie shop, and Queen Elizabeths favourite things, and Capt Darlings Application for emergency transfer to somewhere safer, and baldricks school report.

It also has some of Blackadders finest insults. It says who or what they about and then follows with the insult:

Charlie Chaplin: I find his films about as funny as getting an arrow through the neck and then discovering their is a gas bill tied to it.

Bladrick: God made man in his own image, and it would be a sad outlook for christmas if god looked anything like you Baldrick

baldricks acting: The only decent impression he can do is of a man with no talent

Concert parties: Id rather spend an evening on top of a stepladder in no man lands smoking endless cigarettes through an ailluminous balaclava

war: A war hasnt been fought this badly since olaf the hairy high cheif of all the vikings accidendtly ordered 80000 battle helmets with the horns on the inside.

to name a few biggrin:

well worth getting the book cool:
