Hi, I was just wondering if there will be parachuting since, they have paratroopers in multiplayer to choose from.

This a mission brefeing from a single player mission in mohaa.
MISSION 6: THE RETURN TO SCHMERZEN

The Siegfried Forest - Siegfried Line, Germany - January 18, 1945

M6L1a,b
The Army Air Force has reported losing several reconnaissance planes 20 miles north of Fort Schmerzen in a place where they've seen nothing of importance, just a lot of forest and snow for miles in all directions.

We want you to go in early and see what's going on in there, before you go to the rallying point for the Schmerzen raid. It's rather odd that the Germans would position valuable anti-air weapons in the middle of nowhere, don't you think?

You'll be "tree jumping" this time - parachuting into a forest is risky, but it's the fastest insertion method. Once you're on the ground, be on the lookout for enemy snipers. You've got the Springfield sniper rifle for this operation. Our planes are probably being shot down by anti-air guns hiding amongst the trees; we're guessing they're 20mm Flaks. Find and destroy any anti-air guns, and be on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary. We'll play this one by ear if something does come up.

Good luck out there, Powell.

They said the same thing in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and you never got to do it. You just saw the plane flying in a cutscene and then you were on the ground, with your parachute lying next to you. I don't think you'll be able to really jump from a plane.

Well, maybe you guys have not realized those black lines when youre in a map? Well, the reason those black lines are there is because the game recognizes the map as a room, the room has a ceiling so if you were to jump it would be from about 200 feet max I would guess, because otherwise the game would reach the ceiling. As all of you know, the game was made from the Quake 3 engine and modified. Quake 3 Arena maps were indoors, so the game always thought that the map was a room, and thats what they did in MOH:AA. If you have opened the pak2.pk3 file, it has environment texture which shows the sky, that is what is pasted on a brush (a brush is a 3D object) and the game would have brushes enclosing the map like a gigantic room, and the inside of these brushes would be textured with the sky texture. So thats why they will most likely not have parachuting in the game. I hope you caught all that, it took me a while to learn that. Its the same with Half-Life and DOD, since all of Half-Life took place in rooms or it was enclosed, except for areas such as the canyon part, in which they used a sky texture.

Hmmm, so most likely any "parachute missions" will entail just starting out near the recently disposed parachute.

Parachutes in Quake powered games are possible. It worked in the firearms mod for Half-Life.

How to?

You create a secret room somewhere outside of the map with the plane, you jump out and, like a teleporter, you get transfered to the actual map after you've been falling for a short period of time

Exactly Manny, I loved the parachute missions in Firearms, they add a terrific atmosphere to the game, not too mention the thrill of knocking someone out of the air as they come down.
