It blows, I reverted back to the ones before it. Screwed up all of my refresh rate settings, and it would just black out my screen in Raven Shield and other games that I played.

This set of drivers is compatible with DirectX 9.
I have not installed them, and I will not until they are available through the Windows update site. I have had enough problems with installing non-WHQL drivers. It's not that your FPS will suddenly shoot off the chart after installing new drivers...at least, I have never seen that happening (unfortunately).

They aren't. Nvidia.com does not host beta or WHQL Candidate drivers, that's what guru3d.com and is for, WHQL Candidates.

Well, nVidia had the 41.09 WHQL candidate available for download for months. On their main website. I never downloaded it though. They changed it today.
So I'm not sure if these are WHQL. It doesn't say they are(n't). Normally, they indicate if it's WHQL, so my guess is these are not? I read somewhere that these drivers were just released last monday, as a beta, and now they're already available as a final release?
I'm in the dark, to be honest.

Candidate or Certified? They usually do not carry Candidate drivers, as they are still early version builds. The WHQL Certified are ones certified by them, but not yet approved by Microsoft.

These are not whql certified. It will tell you half way if u wish to continue or cancel since they are not certified. I installed them and have had no problems. Maybe even a slight fps increase in BF1942.

I am quite sure the drivers available were Candidate. Because if they were certified, I would have installed them. I was surprised to see nVidia hosting a Candidate driverset on their (main) website.
You can still get them [url=ftp://download1.nvidia.com/Windows/:f8e3a]here[/url:f8e3a]. Not that it really matters anymore...

Using the new drivers, now. Marked improvement, but then, I have a paltry GeForce 2 MX400 64MB, so I need all the help I can get.

Actually i've heard mixed feedback about ATI cards, particularly some of their drivers having issues with XP. I'm getting the new 9600 Pro for my new system, so I guess I'll find out.

That whole driver thing is a crock of bs, ati updates their drivers more frequently than nvidia and they aren't all "leaked beta's" either unlike 99% of nvidia's driver "releases" I assume u meant 9800 pro btw

Actually there is a new series the 9600 series coming out next month. It's replacing the 9500's. The 9600 Pro will be comparable in power to the 9800 pro, but bill cost over $200.00 less. Wish I could afford a 9800 Pro, but. . . biggrin: Maybe I'll pimp my girlfriend for a week or two. . .hmmmm.
