MG42 Increased Rate of Fire -
04-02-2003, 11:26 PM
I know there are mods that increase the rate of fire of the MG42, but they are nowhere near what the MG42 should be firing at. The MG42 should be firing 33 bullets per second, which means it should have a firing rate of 1980 rpm. EA Games made the MG42 fire at 600 rpm. Does anyone know where I could find a mod that produces a rate of fire of 1980 rpm for the MG42, or atleast something close?

in the tik file for the mg42, just change the dmfiredelay to a lower number.
changing it to 0.01 will make it fire super fast.
but the reason EA probably did that was to keep the animations of the gun looking real.
to compensate, there is another variable, bulletcount. i think it is 3 for the mg42. all that means is that you shoot 3 bullets every time you pull the trigger.

download Pakscape and searh for it in Pak1. You don't need to unzip them , Pakscape allows you to explore the Pak files.

Maybe i'm being silly here
but what will you gain by having more fire power in the MG42 more than you got already ?

Itamar will you knock it out. We want realism, not a fire advantage.

Well I got into the tik file and changed the dmfiredelay to get it to fire at a higher rate, but is there anyway to know if it is really firing at 33 bullets per second (1980 rpm)? It might just be that there was no sound made in the game for a faster mg42, because at 1980 rpm you shouldn't be able to hear individual bullets like how it was in ww2. Anyone know what the problem might be?

maybe it has something to do with the tracer frequency, because in the tik file it says....
tracerfrequency 3 // to compensate for the slower fire rate
Do I have to change this, and if so what would I change it to?

not positive, but i think tracerfrequency 3 means that every 3rd bullet you will be able to see firing

Yes me thinks so too because if every trigger pull u shoot 3 shots and then u have a frequincy of 3 then doesnt that make sence?
