Can someone help me ? I want to host a game with my router hooked up. Some reason I cant get past the firewall.I tried the DMZ setup but my friend cant find my server, and the forwarding ip thing, help please!!
make sure the comp you are setting up the DMZ to has "Specify an IP" as its network settings. Also check DNS, and Gateway configuration. Make sure the DMZ is set up for the IP of the server computer, which needs to be specified. (no DHCP)
You don't need to turn off DHCP at the router, just at the comp you are setting a DMZ up to. As long as the settings are correct, the router will still recognize the comp.
what i was trying to say was, If he were to launch gamespy and try to "join" a game. Dies it let you into the game to play. Or can you not join games too.
Well, that's generally what Gamespy is for, joining games...
Why would he NOT be able to join? Are you saying he is trying to join the game he is running, on the same LAN? Or is he trying to join a remote game, while running a server on his LAN? Or is he trying to join a remote game, without running a server on his LAN?
What i need help with Is: im trying to set up a server with my router hooked up. problem is i dont know how to set up the router so others can see my ip or server name on Gamespy.
Someone who has a server hooked up behind a Linksys router PLEASE tell me exactly how I can accomplish this. Do i change something in net properties. or Just the router.
I have a linksys router and i cant host cause it has a firewall. So does my modem, so im behind 2 damn firewalls lol
