it's an alternative to the always-occouring "my penis is bigger than yours" stuff where rich white kids can brag about their "l33t sp3cz"

I believe the human eye can not see more FPS than 27 (when looking directly at an object/screen).

But: Consider 100 FPS. The time between each frame is 1000/100 = 10 ms.

Thus, a 'lag' of 10 ms. Add that to your ping. So, you can 'feel' the difference between, say, 30 FPS (1000/30, 30 ms) and 100 FPS (10 ms).

Higher FPS = always better, smoother.

MOHAA doesn't necesarily use DirectX 9 but 9 has better support and such, and will give an fps boost.

the reason is: I feel the need for speed! biggrin: Actually it just chaps my arse that I spent money on a new motherboard and video card and my fps is about the same...and I hear guys talking about getting 100 and they've got the same card I have. I put this computer together myself so I figure I must have done something wrong in the setup. Also, being an old coot with slow reflexes, I need every split second of advantage I can get just to keep up with you young fellas. biggrin:

3Dmark is a neat little piece of software. But it does more than just measure your vid card, it does your whole pc. MOH (and 3Dmark) are more cpu intensive than you might think. I got bigger boasts in 3Dmark score and MOH fps by overclocking my cpu (well, actually, my front side bus) than by bumping up my vidcard.

Directx9 is in its infancy. I had to uninstall it due to the annoying things it did to a couple of games.
