At wits end with DC cuz of horrible fps. -
04-25-2003, 02:40 AM
I thought i would make this new thread about dc, because frankly, im losing my mind. Whenever i i hit certain places in maps, my fps drops below 10, and in some cases it completely freezes...and by the time it comes back, im already dead. For example(s): when i play the midway map for dc...whenever i spawn on the iraqi carrier and attempt to fly a mig or the hind-my frames per second come to a screeching halt. I have tried everything graphically and soundwise...ive even turned it all the way down and ran my rez at 800x600. My specs are quite formidable and should be able to handle this with no problems.
P4 1.5
512 rd pc800 ram
asylum gf4 ti 4600 128mb ddr
windows xp prof w/ sp 1
i really enjoy the dc mod, but at this point, its unplayable and i cant have fun anymore with it because of this. Yes, i have all the current drivers for my soundcard and vid card. i just dont understand this. plz help! SW-14 have you heard of this problem? cry:
all of my other games run fine. (vietcong gets a little hairy sometimes...but its ok) i would like to get this issue resolved cuz i love dc mwah:

I only play DC on el almain & with under 15 people. it starts to get a little chuggy when the server reaches 15. oh but really pisses me off is that i cant bomb because when im in the plane & flying over the enamy base, as im approcing the base its fine but as soon as i begin to cross over it freezes up & dosent unfreeze for 2 seconds which im past the base. makes it quite dificult to bomb mad:

Sorry, but...get a faster computer if you want to play it. It is below the minimum system requirements. Very much below.
I don't think you will get better performance, no matter what you do, with this computer.

PM me your account number and we'll make some arrangement, biggrin:
And, if it makes you feel any better, I have been using a Pentium 60 Mhz. until April 2001. So I know how it feels to have a computer that is not the fastest available, hehe.
The fastest computer available at that moment was a Pentium IV 1.4 Ghz, I think.
I had:
P60
48 MB of RAM (good old fast page)
4 MB video
1.5 GB HDD
14' monitor
Playing MP3's used 60% CPU, oOo:

I know for a fact the carrier has a glitch, and I think it's due to the new deck texture. Whenever I try to bomb the carrier when flying over it with the Harrier, my game drops to like 2FPS, until I get the carrier off my screen. I think it's a glitch, hopefully SW-14 know's about it.
As for the game itself, yes it is a bit more laggy than the regular BF1942, but thats due to all the modding. Hopefully EA and Dice will support the mod, and pick it up, and make it more compatible for BF1942.

Yeah, he's right. His specs are exactly like my other PC, and the game runs fine.
Scrotum, $350 plus S&H will get you a P4 1.5Ghz, an Asus mobo, 512MB PC-800 RDRAM, a 350W Power Supply, Black Antec/Alienware case W/Window & 4 80MM fans, and a 80GB HD.

i have this problem but only when flying. the game runs fine for me when doing ground stuff, but as soon as i get into a plane and start bombing i see all kinds of lag ... i think its because of all the extra smoke from the explosions. i did see an increase in fps when i dropped the settings down to low. if you set everything low and leave texture at high the game will still look ok. hmm. maybe adjusting the view distance would help ?
