FWC has broader powers in the state of Florida than any other state law enforcement agency. The guy could have made things very difficult and the last thing you ever want to do is to tell a cop what he can and cant do.

Joe - you would have made a big mistake trying to do what you said. He would have had you on the side of the road for hours while he searched your car. FWC is the only law enforcement that does not require search warrants to search your home or car and their required probable cause has less restrictions. he could have said he suspected you of having out of season game or drugs in the vehicle. His jurisdiction is the entire state, 5 mph over the speed limit is speeding and radar is not needed to write a ticket. You might have had a pretty good case to fight the ticket, but he still could have wrote it and very, very likely his superior would back him up. Make no mistake, these guys arent park rangers, they are cops.

I have made the mistake of making smart ass comments to them before only to pay the price by having my boat and safety equipment inspected to insane standards and having all of the contents tossed and searched.

that shit shouldn't happen though. The man specializes in a certain field and he should only be allowed to enforce that field. He can't go around impersinating other people fields and jobs. It's quite bullshit.

Dont you love it when people over step there bounds and abuse there power? Cause thats exactally what that ass did to you, and butters. You had no real reason to be searched, shit tossed around, and been delayed. The fucker was just bored and using you as his personal bitch. Much like Joe park ranger did to Butters. Not much you can do in that situation aside from make there life as painful as there making yours. Be an ass, make there job hard as hell, fight fire with fire. Because i'd love to see the report that says you were arrestested for being a pain in the ass even while all your shit smelled like roses.

hey, i'm not the one complaining about being pulled over for speeding 5 miles above the speed limit. Like pest said "FWC has broader powers in the state of Florida than any other state law enforcement agency."

when (if) i ever get pulled over for speeding, i ain't going to cry about it. just think of all the times you've sped and HAVEN'T gotten caught..

shit..i'll probably get pulled over on the way home from work today, just because i said that..

I have a number of stories of run-ins with game wardens. Most are good people, but there are always assholes.

We had one pair of wardens stop us on our way back to the landing on a local lake about 20 minutes before dark. By the time they were done checking us 30 minutes later they wanted to write us a ticket for no lights onthe boat. If they hadnt taken so long, we would have not been out in the dark without lights. That one about got ugly, but they finally let us go.

Another time the marine patrol got pissed because they tried to bust us for drinking inthe boat, but we had one sober guy. They checked every required piece of safety equipment twice, just to piss us off.

Another time I was checked while fishing this little backwater hole on a lake. No problem there, but when they were done, another boat of GWs showed up and they just hung out yapping right where i was fishin. They didnt bother to leave until I bounced my spinner bait off their outboard a couple of times.

I cant count the times that my boat and everything in it has been completely searched while hunting. Its happened so often I half expect it now. And the state boys are sweethearts compared to the federals.

A final word of advice is not to call game wardens/marine patrol "chickenshit". They dont care for that one little bit. ed:

Should have caused a distraction like "Hey! A deer just got hit by a car!" or "A fly just smashed into that window!" and sped off

dude you didnt get a ticket, thast what matters. AS a side fact, I have an uncle who works for the mass. state something. Hes no quite a cop but he gets, a gun, badge, car, the whole 9 yards. He is allowed to pull people over and keep them there until a legal cops arrives. ALthough he never does that...he himself went 90 in a 30 zone in front of my house....that was a fun ride
