How is it that my brother in law bought Allied Assault, and runs it with one disc on 2 computers? I mean, they start thegame on one, take the disc out and start it on another one, and both computers will play online, on the same server. What is the purpose of the CD Key if this is possible?

They are running v 1.11 also. I just dont get it myself. Kind of cool, but really defeats the purpose of the CD Key.

even if that does work..im not saying it doesnt because i dont know. in his case it works fine but he still cant let anyone else have or use the cd because he will need it restart his own game.for all the hassle involved in trying to share a cd it will soon become evident thats its just easier to buy the cd.

Butch,
The computers are side by side so I dont think buying another disc is worth it. I am thinking that since these two PC's are on a router sharing one IP address, that the CD key feature isnt working to read two users on that IP. I am new to this but it seems to me if you have a LAN at home with 10 PCs connected using one cable connection you could run all 10 with one disc.

Thats all I can figure.

I don't even think there is a CD-key read feature. My roommate and I have been using the very same key forever and have encountered no problems. Not when joining the same server (any server), not when playing over LAN. If a CD-key read feature exists, servers are not using it.

It just works.
