Ive thought of that before too, it's not hard to come up with a cool idea, but almost impossible to have it made, unless you become the producer of some company like 2015, i doubt you'll ever get the game off the ground, unless u make a mod for a different game...good luck.....

Nowhere did I mention that squad tactics were first used in WW2. The Germans in WW1 perfected the infantry squad, but even they didn't invent it. However, they were credited with being the innovators of squad tactics because they were the first to employ a TEAM of specialists, so that each squad could operate independently of the main battle group. Obviously it worked to some degreee of success, because it took several countries to defeat the German army during WW2. No one country could have defeated them alone. It's no wonder that modern armies since WW1 based their infantry on the GERMAN idea of squad tactics, rather than the Napoleonic-Era British rifle skirmishers. And YES, MOST of the Napoleonic battles WERE fought in formation with each side standing tall and praying not to get shot or blown up while the other side returned the volley during a reload (until they drew close enough to start a melee). Aside from the cavalry charges, this was the accepted form of warfare back then.
Please don't tell me what you THINK I know or don't know.

I am attempting to get made a First person shooter set from 1805 to 1815, the Napoleonic Wars. Play as either British, French, Prussian, Dutch, Belgium, Austrian, Russian and Spanish.
Fight in diffrent campaigns all through europe and maybe in africa. You will play as in the country you choose maybe around 10 diffrent regiments through out the game like the British 95th Rifles, Russian Cossacks and the French Old Guard. Recreate battles like Waterloo, Borodino and Austerlitz.
Fight with Muskets, Rifles, Bayonets, Sabers,Pistols, 6 pounder cannon ( when your in the atillery regiments), lances and loads more.
Fight in line, column, square, skirmish, spy, blow up, shoot, stab, slice, cut, ride, lunge and much more.
Please tell me if you would play this game from thr thin outline i have said. i have nearly 7 pages of notes written down with pictures and possible missions based on real events.

Once the SDK is released, why not try to make it into a mod for this game. Should be possible.

I don't know about the Napoleonic Era mod, but I would definitely play a WW1 mod. The Napoleonic mod would have you spend most of your time reloading your musket while standing in a formation waiting to get shot by the other armies or their cannons. There was no such thing as squad tactics back then, so your mod would be nothing more than just a volley in a big open field.

Your Regiment is in line after repelling a small cloumn of French Infantry then you see on the horizon cavalry so your regiment is orderd into the square formation to repel it, the cloudy smoke and the clang of bullets bouncing of the cuirraseurs chests. Reloading the brown bess musket took not that long, 3 rounds a minute could be fired... rifles about 2.You are out of ammo so you fix bayonet and charge the incoming infantry lunging blocking slicing, a french officer knocks your weapon out of your hands so you garba french musket and crack it over his head. I find that more fun than standing on a roof waiting for an american to run through a gap so yuo can snipe him.
