Nothing lame about honoring those who served. That is the reason those movies are on television this weekend.

Yeah, that wouldn't be cool.

So, what movies ARE they showing?

Most likely, which is a bad example.

It's way too inaccurate to portray ww2 veterans. Th opening beach scene was good but everything else was just too unrealistic. If they want a movie to commemorate the vets I'd choose When Trumpets Fade or even Band Of Brothers.

If I'm not mistaken, SPR was very well received by vets, was it not?

Anyway, a BoB marathon would be sweet. It wouldn't happen, but it'd be kewl.

Put on "A Bridge Too Far" and I'll have 3hrs of good watchin'. biggrin:

SPR was well-received by the vets, and not just for the beach scene. Many vets claim the movie did a good job portraying how life was like during war. I agree, but BoB does a much better job, but that is a mini-series, SPR is a movie.

Many vets were debating about the amount of cursing when the movie came out. Some say that they never used that many swears, while others say they used way more. But whatever

But SPR was so historically inaccurate in almost everything.

Flash!"

What bugged me was the last battle in that town. This rag-tag group of guys were taking on thee Waffen SS, hitler's best. Yet the director portrayed them as a thrid rate peasant army. Running into machine gun, falling pray jackson, and the 20mm AA gun being carted around like a shopping cart.
