Thing is, that happened more often than not. The German Army during WW2 was woefully lacking in motorized transport. Together with air-superiority, the fact that the US and it's allies had such an extensive motor-pool is credited with their victory. Germany spent so much damn time/energy/resources developing the most effective and feared artillery (88s), tanks (Tiger's) and personnel weapons (STGs), they completely negelected the fact that these armaments and troops need to move around, quickly.
