Default CITY NIGHTS Review - 05-29-2003, 07:06 PM

Well, that map was....different. When I started downloading the map, I was all excited and ready to play this bad mo fo. It took me about 9 minutes to download it, so I knew this must be worth the wait. Well, I was wrong. Although I have to give credit on the guns, they looked very well and were pretty cool. They had flaws but you know, i couldn't do any better. Although I don't know why the Allies started with an RPG (Rocket Propelled Grenade), you would think the allies would have something "better", rather than an RPG (Watch "BLACK HAWK DOWN" the movie and you will see why). Well I also liked the skins, they were done well to, actually, I really liked them, good job on that part. But the map, well, that was a totally different story. I was expecting lots of alleys, tunnels, and more city like characteristics...and all's I got was an open outside area with buildings surroudning all ends, and posters. Not enough detail in my opinion, but that could just be me.

But overall, I didn't like that map whatsoever, the guns were cool, and so were the skins. But I have DSL, so I feel sorry for the 56kers out there that download this map/mod or whatever it is. If I could I would take back the 9 minutes it took the download the thing, and the other 5 minutes that I played it in. The only thing I enjoyed were the guns, skins, and the posters, the posters we're cool. So if your going to download this map, don't look forward to the map, but look foraward to the guns and skins. Well, that is my review on this map, and if you don't like it, too bad, I have the right to post my opinion. Flame me all you want, I don't care.

I not sure why people flame someone se heavily for posting an opinion.

"Shut your hole moron"? Sounds like something a 15 year old would say...

Haven't downloaded it, probably won't....ok, might out of pure curiosity... but first big problem: "27 hours..." That'll sum up the quality of any map - for any reason, for any users. Talk 200 hours, then you've got some serious development time. I've played Cobra's single player missions and looked at most of his previous stuff. Although I've commended him on cool new ideas and hard work on scripting; brush work and detail are the weak points...and any map made in a short time is going to suffer. There are tons of maps with hundereds of hours that look good but play like crap too.

Cool ideas, good team efforts, but rushing an unpolished product that gets so much hype and interest doesn't help anybody. Neither does flaming someone you nothing about...primary reason this site went to hell over the last several months. I feel a 'soap box' tirade coming on, so I'm done.

Thanks guy for backing me up, and General Cobra, I'm not trying to diss your map or anything, I just expected it to be like with lots of detailed stuff and such.

That's all good, but lets get three things straight.
I'm not the best mapper.
I'm never gonna be the best mapper.
And I could care less what you think.
But I will tell you I learned one thing about "detail" when making earlier maps. They would have been WAYYY better if I wouldn't have put so much "detail" in. There is one explaination for my actions now.

I have a 56k modem and get connected at 38 kbs and I just finished playing someone in Florida, some one in Jersy and someone in Cali.
