This is a discussion forum, not a search database. Why do people feel the need to tell people that ask questions to "do a search"?

Anyone that has ever tried to do a search here, knows that the search engine is a POS.

And like I said, its a discussion forum. If the thread has no merit, it will slide off the page. If I asked a buddy a question from last football season and he told me to do a search, I would stick my foot up his ass.

If you have seen the thread before, dont open it. Where would we be if you were only allowed to discuss a topic once. Following the logic of the pop-up blocker threads, we should never have to see another thread on Metal, metalica in particular, freddie v jason, matrix, airsoft, cars, teamspeak, starwars kid, DoD, WWII, religion, or the stanley cup.

I know we have talked about this before too, but I am too lazy to do a search.

Agreed.

Please, if you don't have any useful information regarding someone's query, don't bother posting anything.

First, though, at least check the first 1-3 pages of the forum. It annoys me very much when I see the same post repeated 3 times on the same page.

Yes. If you post, post something useful, like a link, or a link to a corresponding thread.

Hey guys, I'll let you in on a little secret.....

I know site called Google, it's really cool because you just type in what you want and it searches the whole internet for your query. Like magic.

I'll be honest, I've used the search here a good 100 times maybe, and probably it's only not found what I was looking for less than 10 times. You just gotta know what you are searching for.

Using the switches AND and OR also helps.

this has been posted before, please use the search function next time oOo:

i'm joking obviously - i tried to search for the msn6.0 beta thread as i needed the link to the file, it took me about 20minutes to sift through around 50 pages of absolute shite. i did finally find it, lucky the link inside the thread still worked or it would have been a complete waste of time.

The results gave me anything from "hey, i'm back" and the "i'm leaving" threads, to "check out this new game". x50

Why is the search so bad?
