The Princess and the Warrior

What can I say about this movie? If you haven't seen it, do so. You'll either love it, or hate it. Its one of those movies. Of course i'm obsessed with Franka Potente, but this is truly an amazing movie that can be appreciated by non-obsessing Franka Potente movie-goers.

Synopsis:

Girl gets hit by truck where she is saved by a man. After recovering she tries to find the man who saved her life. Fate and coincidence play a huge part in this movie. Which is it? That is for you to decide.

This movie is slow. Its nothing like Run Lola Run. The characters are slow and the movie is long. about 3/4 of the way through the movie, I thought it was pretty boring because I didn't understand the full scope of the film. The end ties together this masterpiece, and everything from the first 3/4 falls into place and you can really enjoy on how many different levels this movie works.

This movie is weird. No doubt about it. The film takes place in a Psych Hospital so the characters need to be weird, but even the normal people are weird. Sissy, the main carachter is slow and strange. Thats what makes it so intriguing. Each person has to deal with their own demons even if their not in the hospital "per-say". I can't say enough good things about this film. If your in the video store one day and you see it, take a chance. Keep in mind it's in German, and you'll have to do some reading, but perhaps it will open your mind. If your a fan of foreign films and want to see something really spectacular that hollywood could never produce, watch this movie. It's not so much about where the movie takes place, or what strange things happen or what the strange people do, but rather what we take away from the movie that can be applied in our every day life. What we learn from the characters and what they will do moves us. The more I think about this film, the more I appreciate it. Its so emotional and thought provoking.

This film is a romantic film. It is a dramatic film. Just because it isn't a war flick doesn't mean you shouldn't watch it. Everyone should be exposed to films like this.

Heres an Ebert and Roper review of the film.

And by the way, if you haven't seen Run Lola Run you should be shot, but on the other hand you could just pick it up as well.

Actuallly, I watch it thrice a day for how good the story is. YOu know it is possible t enjoy a movie who hasnt been corupted by "American Standards" Where all there is is tits, and sex. They dont put any tie into making movies anymore, its becoming rather sad. Now adays i only watch films from other countries. Princess and the Warrior has to be hands down one of the best films out there. I mean the plot is flawless, the actors are great.

Yeah you were right 6489JAMES6489. I gotta thank you for that. It really is a work of art. Theres so many extras on the DVD as well. Lots of good stuff.

I know people like Old Reliable, Con Brio, Ferich, Sicilian_Summers, Low spark and other people able to comprehend the great writing and acting in this film should watch this film.

I'm willing to bet you'd like it a lot. Its a great story and impecable acting by the entire German cast. And you can pick up on some German linguistics as well.

I just watched Run Lola Run today. It makes me teary eyed. I love that film. Theres so much emotion. Theres something about that film that makes it great and stands it out from others. I'd say its my favorite movie. The Princess and teh Warrior would probably be in my top 5.
