I'm glad someone finally nominated me, but I am not too sure I would want this job if only one or two new mods are accepted.
Under this formula my vote goes to Innoxx or Redhawk, both are mature and we are on good terms so they won't ban me biggrin:
what we really need is 3-4 mods for offtopic, 2 for MMS, and 1 for each other section (well war on terror and history only need one mod between the two of them)

Blimey, this thread crept up on me.
Thanks everyone for the kind words and confidence in me, but I honestly don't think I am mod material.
I'm not giving the reverse psychology, false modesty spin. I just have a few reasons why I would not be a good mod. I think I am capable of doing it, and after posting here for such a long time it really would be an honour to me.
But, I'm not likely to be around forever (especially with my girl coming along in what, 2-3 months).
Plus, I don't honestly think that being a mod is a promotion. It's be more like a chore, I think.
Anyway, thanks again for all the comments. I'm moved biggrin:
I have an increasing amount of responsibility at work, as well. For instance, last week my company managed to botch up 38000 customer accounts on Direct Debit (automatic monthly payments from the customer's bank). Every single DD claimed or refunded on the 9th of June was duplicated on the 10th, 11th and 17th.
As you can imagine this has caused a lot of crap to happen, what with referals and bank charges and cancellations and what-not.
Good news is the section manager has trusted little old me to run the dedicated team who has been given the task of cleaning this shit up.
Great for my CV. Hard on my stress levels.
I like to unwind after work by coming here and letting off steam in discussions, heated or not.
I don't read every thread and I don't think I really want to.
And to have to deal with problems that I am sure occur here as well as all the issues at work would just be too much.
So, I really appreciate all of those who said they would like me to be a mod and I hope I'm not letting them down in any way by declining.
Oh shit, what am I saying? Mod = Edit button. I'll take it! biggrin: Just joshing, of course.
Seriously, though... If enough people want me to do it and it comes to the point where I am asked to, I would be willing to at least give it a go for a month or two. It's just that I could not promise much more than that.
Innoxx is a person who I imagine I'd get along with in real life really well, so I'd certainly not mind him being mod. He's certainly got his head screwed on right, even though he is quite opinionated (aren't we all?).
Most of the other serious candidates I have seen here are good ones.
Hell, the topic starter himself would probably do a great job of it too, and no one mentioned him (Vance, for those who have bad memories).
There are quite a few members who could do it.
Bottom line is this: Whoever does it has to be fair, even tempered, willing to admit they're wrong at least once in a while and someone who acts and types in an adult, clear and consice way.
They don't have to be Mr Nice Guy, they just need to be willing (and able) to take flack and enjoy it.

I doubt who has been here the longest has anything to do with it. Noctis is a mod and he has only been here for a few months. Zoner is pretty cool and i like his grizzley beard so i would pick him.

I think you have to have a certain degree of weight with the other members.
Just getting some random person with 20 posts would piss everyone off, and then nobody would ever hear the end of it.
That's why post count is not an overlooked aspect of choosing a mod/admin.....It's like the trial period for taking the position.
