Default MOH Frustration - 07-15-2003, 08:26 PM

I usually would not have posted here, but I have reached a level of frustration that I never have before. Here is my situation :

I recently reinstalled Windows XP on my machine. I also reinstalled MOHAA and patched it with the 1.11 patch. I then went ahead and installed new video and audio drivers. Now, from that point, whenever I joined a server, the game would crash. It would label mohaa.exe as the problem file. Here are the solutions that I have tried, with no positive results :

1. Reinstalling the game
2. Reinstalling the game on a different drive
3. Removing all entries from the Registry
4. Reinstalling video drivers
5. Reinstalling audio drivers
6. Repairing the game
7. Running the game at version 1.0 and 1.11 and both with and without the NO CD patch
8. Running a Windows Update

Even after all that, the game continues to crash, giving me the same error in return. I have run out of possible solutions, so I turn to all of you for anything else that you think would cause something like this to happen. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I already formatted the C drive before I reinstalled Windows.

Ok, after reinstalling DirectX9 and the video/audio drivers, I decided to give MOH another try. I tried SinglePlayer this time. I was in the training course for about 3 minutes, when the game crashed out of nowhere, giving me the following error :

I just checked the folder where my video drivers are installed, and that .dll file resides in that folder. Seems as if my video drivers (which are 44.30; brand new from Nvidia.com) are causing the problem. However, I cannot download an older set of drivers b/c the new ones are all the the website offers.

My experience with vid card drivers shows that the newest ones are almost NEVER the good ones. The most compatable drivers are the ones that came with your vid card from manufacturer. Hope you still have the cd.

Grrrrrrr... I can't believe this. As I'm replying to you. My video drivers crapped out of me LOL .

- oh well I can still type in 640x480 at 256

Have you tried rolling back your video card drivers ( correctly ) stop by http://www.driverheaven.net/ and get their video card driver cleaner b4 reinstalling any drivers (ati and nvidia ) you may also want to see if the latest drivers are effecting MOH by checking out:
http://download.guru3d.com/

They have a good comments section for each download.

good luck Mpowell

Thanks for the replies everyone. I finally realized that it was my motherboards that was the problem. I swapped it out for a more expensive model, and now the problem is gone. Thanks again for any replies.
