Guest Posts: n/a	08-09-2003, 08:52 AM the United States Marine Corps did indeed use eary model Thompsons in the war, the Navy department was the first military branch to order the tommy gun and the Marines were the first to get them. I believe Marine raiders used the drum mag on the Makin island raid. British Commandoes also used the "gangster" tommy in the early war.
