BT: Invalid CD-key on some servers

Hey all-

anyone know why someone would get kicked from a single server for an invalid cd-key when other servers don't seem to have a problem? Why I ask is that this guy has bought two copies of BT and niether work on one particular server he plays most often. Could this be a server issue or does he have a key (well, now he has two) that someone else is using?

yeah i do ..and there is a server side fix for it ..if aney admins have this problem ..pm me and i will send you the lines you nead to add to your server.cfg file to stop this from hapening

Judas, that message is really old and it was posted for SH key problems, not BT.

I'd PM you, but isn't this something that admins and affected players should know about too so they can correct the problem?

After getting a bit tired of waiting for Flagg to log-in so that he can PM me, I did a little digging around and found the neccessary line to add to the server.cfg to stop this happening.

I'd post it here, but I noticed Flagg's post got edited as the mods considered it to be technically classified as warez. I'm not sure however, that it falls into the "warez" category, as I found the solution on the GameSpy 3D forums!

Anyway... the answer to the problem can be found [url=http://www.forumplanet.com/GameSpy3D/topic.asp?fid=4356&tid=497040:8f349]here[/url:8f349] (read post #15), and since this is a server-side only fix, I'll leave it to the discretion of the forum mods to decide if they still consider this to be warez, and to edit this post as they see fit.

it shouldnt be a problem letting other server guys know what the deal is with this if its causing people that bought the game to not be able to play.

didnt know that ... i searched for invalid cd... and breakthrough and came up with that post ... even if it is spearhead im pretty sure it might still apply.
