i thought it was the same guy too, but it isn't..the uniform is a dead give away..
the kraut they let go was a wermacht..they guy that stabbed mellish was an SS..
on his way down the stairs the SS dude does not kill upham, because 1) he was crying and 2)upham takes his hand off his gun..
now the guy that shoots miller IS the guy they let go..but not the same guy that killed mellish..just check his uniform...you can see his uniform is different also when upham ends up shooting him in the end...
unless of course, he killed mellish in his SS uniform..then changed back into his wermacht uniform..
they're actually two different guys..its pretty confusing though..but hey, so was the whole damn war right?
