What a Day -
10-06-2003, 08:03 PM
We got a new manager at the place of business I work at 2 weeks ago. He just moved up here from Oregan with his wife. Well anyhow, today he stopped in my office for a little chit chat, he metioned how he thought he'd never live to see the day when the Cubs finally won a postseason series. I, not being a big fan of baseball, listened politetly until he said he was going to lunch.
About 20 minutes later a workre from the sub shop in our mall came running in our store and said that they had called an ambulance, because our manager was having a heart attack. I quickly called his home and left a message for his wife to call me as soon as she could. In the mean time he had stopped breathing and the paramedics began to give him cpr to try to revive him.. It' didn't work he died, he was 56 years old. Well his wife did call about an hour later. I told her that her husband had an apparent heart attack, and started to give her the phone numbers to the a county support the whole time, she was saying "Oh, God. Did he pass? Did he pass?. I felt like shit but I said I did not know and that she neede to call the numbers that I had given her.
It was so weird. I really wanted to tell her he was dead, but I felt it wasn't my place. I really feel bad for her, even though I have not met her. They have just moved into the area with no family in the area. It has to be hell for the poor woman.

Man I hope I never have to break news like that so someone, I know I could do it but I hope I never do it. People today live such long lives and others live such short ones, day to day people froget we are mortal and little things like this remind us. Scary that we all will die some day.

Me "umm I'm sorry.. but he did"
Woman "ohhhhh *cries" NNOOOO!"
Me (very casually) "hey, These things happen"

That's crazy. Did the guy have a pre-existing condition? Or did he just collapse and die? Either way, sucks big-time.

But damn...first I hear about Snyder passing away after 6 days after the crash with Dany Heatly and now this. Totally sucks.
