_Polemarcus":905b6]
IMHO, These new towers look stupid. Not only are they now the #1 Target for Terrorists, but in 10 years, when things looking that abstract are no longer trendy, they'll be seen to be fucking stupid looking.[/quote:905b6]
10 years MAYBE, but in 20 years they will not be seen like that. When the first trade towers went up they recieved HORRIBLE reviews. People HATED THEM. They were considered the sore thumbs of new york. BUT they had a unique character.... they became a defining Icon for New Yorkers. Right up there with the Statue of Liberty. Over time, the public will learn the appreciate such a technological achievement.
If your interested in learning more about the MEMORIAL designs, pick up the latest issue of "ARCHITECTURE" at a magazine store. There is a pretty good article in there about it. The cover has an image of Koolhaas student center on it, but i assure you that it is in there.[/quote:905b6]
You make quite a few valid point, sir. However, as i said, that was only my humble opinion. No disrespect to the 9/11 victims or anything, but i think these new buildings look too gaudy and abstract, and the architects should have stuck to something similar to the original design. The old WTC
made the New York Skyline. It would have been good to see the old girl back there. cool:

When was the last time an airport was broken into and a control tower was taken over?[/quote:905b6]
When was the last time before 9/11 that a plane was hijacked and deliberately flown into a building? As out-there as the idea of hijacking an airport sounds, anything is possible, as our friend Mr. Atta showed us. annoy:
