hey a building is a building. If it shows the terrorists that they suckI say go for it. AS for the SAMs and AAguns thast a good idea. as for the Auto overide not a good idea. Airports are easy to break into and control towers can be taken over easily.

When was the last time an airport was broken into and a control tower was taken over?
_Polemarcus":905b6]
IMHO, These new towers look stupid. Not only are they now the #1 Target for Terrorists, but in 10 years, when things looking that abstract are no longer trendy, they'll be seen to be fucking stupid looking.[/quote:905b6]

10 years MAYBE, but in 20 years they will not be seen like that. When the first trade towers went up they recieved HORRIBLE reviews. People HATED THEM. They were considered the sore thumbs of new york. BUT they had a unique character.... they became a defining Icon for New Yorkers. Right up there with the Statue of Liberty. Over time, the public will learn the appreciate such a technological achievement.

If your interested in learning more about the MEMORIAL designs, pick up the latest issue of "ARCHITECTURE" at a magazine store. There is a pretty good article in there about it. The cover has an image of Koolhaas student center on it, but i assure you that it is in there.[/quote:905b6]

You make quite a few valid point, sir. However, as i said, that was only my humble opinion. No disrespect to the 9/11 victims or anything, but i think these new buildings look too gaudy and abstract, and the architects should have stuck to something similar to the original design. The old WTC made the New York Skyline. It would have been good to see the old girl back there. cool:

When was the last time before 9/11 that a plane was hijacked and deliberately flown into a building? As out-there as the idea of hijacking an airport sounds, anything is possible, as our friend Mr. Atta showed us. annoy:

I never said it was out there, I was questioning why it was easy to break into an airport. It shouldn't be easy at all unless they somehow got the codes to the doors.

Its really interesting that you're obsessed with planes flying into skyscrapers. Do you think that the US should tear down all of them so no one will every fly into one again? rolleyes:

Not every plane has over-ride stuff, these terrorist guys have supposably millions of £$ funding so they could buy an old DC-3 or something, mebbe 3 or 4 and whats going to stop them flying into a building? All they really need is a bomb anyway, whose to say they have to use planes? A high ranking police officer from the met police in London summed up the situation quite well imho.

"If there is a terrorist out there who wants to do something and we haven't got any intelligence regarding his plans then his is virtually unstoppable".

Calm down there, Friend. How am I "Obsessed" with Planes flying into Skyscrapers? Because I know the surname of one of the hijackers? And frankly, The US can make all of their skyscrapers out of Mithril for all i care, i was just presenting my idea for what I would have done, if the replacement buildings had been my decision, is all.
