Yeah but what is the point of sending a felon to jail if there is no chance of that person changing? It is a waste of time and resources to let someone rot in a cell and we have to feed them and pay for everything. I dont know about other states, but CA considers violent crimes to be a disease or epidemic that can be cured with rehabilitation. I agree with this in many cases, I'm sure everyone has heard stories of someone who did his time and now leads a productive life and has a family and a good job/career. I believe that kind of opportunity should be available for bank robbers, drunk drivers, drug users, and criminals like that AFTER they have done their time. Special cases like serial killers and rapists should be denied these opportunites because of the details and nature of their crime. They kill and rape because they like it. That mentality is sub-human and in too many cases, the perps commit the same type of crime after they do their time.
