My son bought a Logitech Z560. It's a 4.1 system, so he got it at a good discount (about $140 online). It rocks the house. You can save a lot (about $200 difference) if you go THX 4.1 instead of 5.1. Not many games use the 5.1 technology yet.

Guys I bought the Polk Audio AMR130. It is a 6 piece surround system and it sounded sweet in the store. Trouble is I can get 4 speaker and 2 speaker support, but when I switch to Surround for the 5 speaker output, it only plays out of the sub and the two front speakers. The center speaker and the 2 rears arent working. Anyone have a clue? I have an SBLive X-gamer and had it running a cambridge 4 point surround before. Thanks!

Logitechs Z560s all the way. THey are the one great 4.1 400 watt system.
Read the reviews..they are one of the best speakers out there even beats Klipsch 4.1s and which cost 200 dollars more than the Z560.

do you use the Creative Launcher thing at the top of the screen? if so, goto AudioHQ, then Speaker. click on Advanced, and you'll see AC-3 decode. make sure it's off (white). it might work for you. also check your speaker settings. my speakers has all these buttons i have to press before i can watch a DVD.

Guys I have a Cambridge soundworks with the subwoofer and the 4 tiny satellite speakers. It has good sound but I got it like 2 or 3 years ago. Do you think it would be worth it to upgrade? I have an SBLive X-Gamer Sound card that has some great features to it, I think a new speaker system could use its full potential? Any suggestions? Thanks for any replies!

hehe, no problem. it's sort of hidden. you see the main part, the pic with all the speakers? it's at the upper right hand side. hope you get your speakers working.

I upgraded from the same speaker setup you have to a set of Klipsch5.1s. What a difference. Don't get me wrong I really liked the Cambridge but my new Klipsch really rock and talk about low end.

what the heck! i can't believe they're charging us to update our drivers. the greedy bastards!

anyway, i searched Yahoo! and it seems you can find the file elsewhere. try here:
http://alive.singnet.com.sg/drivers/lw51.htm

i think this is it. be careful though. i remember trying to update last time and it totally freaked up my computer. it seems there's a problem with the Sound Blaster Live! and the Asus A7V133, which is my motherboard. they didn't even have a fix at the time. they don't even mention the problem or offer support. so i stuck with the drivers that came with my sound card, and have been using them ever since. now, i'm afraid to even try to update again. hehe, thanks for listening to me complain.

The newest line in Ksplitch (or however its spelt), the Pro Media 5.1 I believe it's called, is sopposed to be one of the best speaker setups available today. Unless of coarse, you want to pay $800 for a professional system. I trust reviews written on the Ksplitch, but I myself have the Creative Labs: Cambridge Soundworks Digital Desktop Theatre 3500 5.1. I think it works great for everything: Games, movies, and the annoying sounds windows makes.

I have the same problem. I have version 1.1 of Creative Sound Mixer. I went to the Creative website, and the only way to get an update for that program is to order the CD. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for now. I'll post the location if I can find the newer version.
