I don't agree with you. Granted, it would be nice to use the MG-42s once in a while, but if the Allies insist on sitting there sniping, all I do is run down to the beach, and kill each one of them in the boats. They're so busy aiming, they never see us. Then of course you get people bitching about spawn camping, but where else are we to find enemies - they're all in the boats!

I know what you're saying - you want Omaha to be a truly team-based map. It will never happen on public servers. There's little you can do about it.

to solve this the omaha MP beach level should be different, make every 1 start in the boats with the doors closed then when they open the gerries can use the 42's to mince em

while I agree with you in theory there is one flaw in everybodys complant about the snipers me and a buddy where messing around the other day trying diferant wepons and we found that the only one that could not get a kill from the boats is the pistal. it was actualy easyer for me to kill him with the machine guns. now before you all jump me yes i do agree get rid of the kill scores

An even simpler way to make Omaha even better is to use the Omaha Sniper Mod (server-side only). It removes the option for Allies to be able to pick the Springfield '03 from their list of weapons, and if they decide to choose it anyway, they get the M1 Garand instead. Axis players get to keep their sniper rifles though.

IT MAKES THE MAP SO MUCH MORE FUN TO PLAY.

The Axis can finally man the MG42's for longer than 2 seconds without being picked off by cowardly Allied players who insist on sniping from the Higgins boats. The Allies will have to be a crack shot if they want to knock the Axis from the mounted guns, plus it makes the rush to the shingle and the seawall that much more intense for them too.

realistically it would me easier to patch so no snipers period, rather than no allied snipers.

I agree that Omaha without snipers would be a different map and much more fun. There will be plenty of pro-sniper Omahas for people to go to if they want.

As for spawning on Omaha I think it is frustrating that, as an allied soldier, I finally make it all the way to the top and then have to spawn at the boat.

It seems they just randomly placed markers so if you are killed at points A, B and C you spawn at the boat and points D, E and F you spawn at the shingle.

It would make much more sense to say if you dont get off the beach you spawn at the boat. If you do get off the beach and, say, at least up the first flight of stairs inside you spawn at the wall, i.e. you are rewarded for advancing inside the complex, not punished for it.

Now if you make it all the way up to the guns you have to start at the boat. But if on dont even make it inside you get to spawn at the shingle wall.

Ok, you take out snipers, then you have the unworkable solution that you have in SP. The MG42's are free to mow you down before you make it half-way up the beach, with no chance of getting killed by return fire.

Get real...how long would that last?

You have some good points there.

I think what really makes me choose a sniper rifle is when I keep getting sniped before I can get into the bunker. Sometimes that's the only way to do it. Yes, I have good accuracy with M1 and BAR, but the problem is SIGHT. You can't see the dang sniper without a scope.

my idea: turn off respawn and see how well the snipers do when the rest of their team is dead. sniper rifle rush?
