Can anyone on Dialup play this online?

I have dialup, nothing else available for me. I play Tribes 1 and 2 in match play so I know my connect isnt that awful. But it seems everytime I join a server I get told to leave. Do 56k'ers really lag the game for everyone when they join? I thought I read that the patch was supposed to optimize lag. Are there special setings I havent found to make this work?
Thx guys I just wanna play the friggin game, thats all....

Check your ping if it's higher than, let's say 400, they will ask you to leave.The funny thing is I was playing yesterday everybody's ping was 999 even mine,then I left because the game was to laggy,went to another room ,and my on that room was 58.

Go figure,I have cable.

One more thing, try joining servers with higher pings.They won't mind.

Check your phone/cable company for high speed connection in your area.

Heh its not that I cant afford a high speed connection, I'm married, have a house in the country with acreage...dont think I can convince my parents to buy me a hi-speed connect where there isnt one. Like I said, theres nothing available for me here, cable is 1 mile away and they have blacklisted me for my harrassment of them now. DSL just isnt here, ISDN is but Im not paying 120.00 per month for 30 hours of use then .02 cents a minute for everything after that....

Thx anyway, oh how can you see your ping in multiplayer games? I'm only seeing it at game end and I'm usually showing 200-ish and still getting asked to leave. Is there a console command to show ping in game?

Thx again, I just want to play...

I have 56k too, and it's unbearable. Comcast keeps giving me the "call us back in 2 weeks - you'll have cable then" speech every time I call.

I have actually not been told to leave servers because of my lag, I just leave because I get pissed off. I constantly get 999 as my ping, and when I try to move around my character walks the direction I tell him to, but then goes back a little. It's like he's drunk.

All in all, I'm pretty pissed off at MOH:AA's netcode. Even on 56k I was able to play Half-Life with no problems whatsoever. Sure, 200-300 ping times aren't the best, but at least I can move around and shoot at people. I sure hope that they address some of these very irritating problems in the next patch.

The 999 pings were probably because someone was hosting AND playing the game from their own PC and not a dedicated server, and it's likely that the host didn't know what the limits were as to the number of players his connection and PC would allow.

Thus, the lag.

A good rule to follow is to avoid servers where you see one of the players has a ping of 0.

just talk your parents into getting highspeed, say you need it for school or something because "dialup" is super slow and its hard to get to the pages you need for your HW or something.

Nah, I agree, its got to be the netcode. I'm on 56k and play Tribes 2 in TWL matches every week, I can ping T2 servers as low as 150ms. In MOH the lowest I ping in gamespy is a couple at 210-240 and the rest way higher. Then when I join its 350 and they are asking me to leave. Heck I can play T2 with a 350 ping but MOH is a slideshow if you can move at all. Something needs to be done about this or the single player game needs to be way longer, otherwise whats the point in buying it.

FIX THE NETCODE FOR DIALUP!

If you are in a rural area with no cable or DSL, satellite would work.

Thx Quik, Sat is good for fast downloads once they are started but not for online gaming. The latentcy (lag) is too high, I understand sat adds at least 400 to your normal ping. No good for gaming.

I've played using a 56k. Use gamespy and only join the games with the best ping. If even your best pings are bad, then get a better modem. And make sure to set gamespy to all servers, because with a 56k you can't be picky. But if at all posible get dsl. Believe me its worth it. I got directvdsl and I would never want to play with a 56k.

56k is ok..even with 999 ping.

U just gotta kno how to play.

Stalingrad map is good for 56kers cuz it's close quarters, thus u dont have to aim as correctly. Also use machine guns (best choice = STG44).

Just be quick and tricky.

No, I beleive the opposite. On DSL or Cable, for example, the data has to go on something actually physical, you know? Whereas satellite just goes through the air, thus, a faster ping time. Just my theory...

but physically usually means fiber optic = really fast. most sat modems also use a normal modem for upload, so that will screw your ping time.

sat bad i know from experience i used it in korea uggh baD and korea is a electronics giant so i just go hooked into a t3 hehe there n played my gaming now im in smallville ohio and all we have is 56k and i think isdn is commin soon cool beans if it does but i been hearing that since june i just wish the host wernt such asses so they would let us play i am 22 mommmy doesnt buy me stuff anymore btw lol i just wanna play and i hit one host today cause it was my first time playing and it was crap at 500 ping lol then i got to a server with 43 then they went down
