i've seen worse, i knew people who saved years and years of newspapers around, crap all over the house, dishes in the sink for over a year(mold and spiderwebs) and everything piled up around the house, its absolutely terrible.

If her house in insured I think that kid needs to wait until she's at work and chuck a thermite grenade in the living room then get the hell out of the house.
