Weird, Ive seen seal lions all the time when I was up in Washington for 2 years and I rarely saw them jump more then a foot or 2 off the ground.

he probably dove and surfaced really fast, like a dolphin/whale or a submarine "dolphining", thus jumping out of the water higher than usual.
