Loading or starting new single-player game causes MOHAA to freeze while AOL launches and signs on in the background. Sometimes I can Alt-Tab or Ctl-Esc back to Windows, close AOL, and continue MOHAA - sometimes it just locks up the screen and I can't get out, Ctl-Alt-Del does nothing. I am running an AMD Duron 900, Asus A7A MoBo, Win98, and AOL 7.0. Any help would be appreciated.

AOL is perhaps the worst dial-up service for online gaming. If it's possible to set up your connection through Internet Explorer, I would do that.

The only other solution is to go to another ISP, which I highly recommend.

I have seen several other posts about people having problems because they are not connected to the internet and then they launch a single player mission and then MOH tries to connnect to the internet (unknown what data is being sent).

When you are not connected to the internet and a program tries to access the internet, windows often automatically brings up a dialog about connecting - this dialog can cause MOH to crash because it interrrupts MOH loading and MOH needs a lot of system resources to load and run (ie difficult to launch AOL and MOH at the same time).

It might not matter what ISP you use. One thing that might help is to connect to the internet first - then launch MOH and start a mission and pause it, then get back to the desktop (i have to hit cntrl, alt, delete) and close AOL or whatever internet connection is up - and then go back to the game.

If MOH crashes whenever you try to go back to the desktop from the game try turning down the graphics all the way (makes it easier for the computer to switch back and forth) OR Another thing is to try and change the settings in windows or in AOL so that it only connects manually - and does not pop up whenever a program tries to access the internet.

Open your browser, goto internet options, then tools, then connection, check the box "Never dial a connection". You can also get to internet options in control panel if need be... Hope that helps.
