I really think that connecting to a server through the game is a lot faster than having to quit out of the game everytime you can't connect and just going back to the AllseeingEye or gamespy or whatever you use. You could just stay in the game the whole time and just try servers over and over again and never have to quit out of the game to try a new server (granted the server you tried doesn't work).
What do you use to connect to MP and why?

I use Gamespy. I like the fact that I can keep some of the servers that I visit often in my favs, so I can see if its running or not. I also like to keep in touch with some guys I play with, so they use gamespy too.

I use GameSpy. Although it's slow and crashes from time to time (and not to speak about all the advertising) it gives me alot of details about the servers. The in-game browser sucks big time! Mainly because it reloads everytime you want to look at it and also you can't get so much info about the servers. For example you cannot see what version of the game they're running.
I use the in game server browser.
Why? Because I don't have to quit out of the game each time I change servers.
It refreshes all the servers in about 15 seconds. I play almost exclusively on US East coast servers with a ping in the 40-50ms range.
ASE, the graphics are unintrusive, because i like simple programs that work, not fancy ones that have alot of show but can't even display a correct ping on the server list because the program is too busy running a Halo Online advertisement.
