jujumantb knows what it's all about.

It's not about volume per se, it's about crisp, clean sound... and maintaining that crisp, clean sound even at high volumes if you so wish to listen to it that loud. Take a stock car stereo system (yes, even those Bose and Monsoon and whatever systems are still stock crap) and compare it to a nice custom system and the difference is like FM versus XM.

I used to be real heavy into car stereo systems in high school. I had (still have, just not installed):

Sony CDX-M600 (50Wx4) head unit
Sony 9-band equalizer with seperate subwoofer volume and cutoff frequency controls
2x Infinity Kappa 693i 6x9s
2x Infinity Kappa 425i 4" rounds
1x JBL 12" 1000W Intercooled Competition subwoofer
2x Orion 200Wx2 amplifiers for the Infinity's
1x Kenwood 1000Wx1 mono amplifier for the sub

It was loud, it was crisp and it was clean. I loved it.

My deck is my sytem pride. JL audio has featured itin a lot of their systems. Mixed with the non stock speakers it will sound fantastic. I had a choice of a clarion deck as well but I choose the Sony becasue it had better specs and te 7 color changeble display + with DSO Sony support. ! 208 Watt Peak built in PSU. I can't wait to get it in. and playing. rock:

Ive boght a trunk sound deadening kit and license plate silencer. hats about it so far for proofing.

LOL! So true. The best though is when the subs boom so hard you can't see because your eyes are vibrating too bad to focus. It's not loud if the sub can get low enough because our ears can't hear that low... it's all in the massive amounts of vibration.

Ever knock something off of the walls? I knocked one of my Mom's pictures off of the living room wall testing my sub in the driveway. Good times.

I almost did that once with my friend's Yamaha bass and Trace Elliott amp. His mom had a bunch of collector spoons on the wall, most of which rattled off the rack. biggrin:

THANK YOU! Exactly. Nice gear you have there too I am a big fan of infinity although I dont have anything of theirs installed now. I used to have a pair of reference 6x9s and even off the deck power they sounded good
Most people just dont seem to understand what car audio is to us. Its really no different than home theatre, except we have it alot harder with roadnoise and strange cancellation and cabin gain. Its just most people get their experience in this hobby from the kid donw the street who bumps his shit as loud as it goes just to be heard... most of us are not like that. I think this is probly why alot of you have bad views on us, because of those few dumbasses who do that. I just urge you not to judge the hobby based on those few induviduals. We are just a good crowd of audiophiles who love music.

You would be surprised by the vibration noise that little mofo makes. It is a bitch to tend to.
