Less Hax0rs and Virusesesssesess to worry about...plus if something goes wrong you have 9478648076084 people working on solving the problem not just microsoft's support team

[quote="TGB!":fd556]All I'm going to use this Notebook for is word processing, maybe some art bullshit and interweb surfing. That is it.

Da Fug is KDE.

Just get RedHat 8 or 9: it's GUI, doesn't take too much space and functions well.
Kthx...

Linux is better for doing actual work,
we use Linux machines at work for Quantum calculations (really fucking hard chemistry/physics that I don't completely understand).
They are more stable and prone to less hackers and viruses, but the downside is practically no games; but one shouldn't be playing games at work anyway

KDE = Nice GUI front end with it's own set of applications and games. As for as using office in Linux, you can do it, but I'm not sure if the program is free. There is a very expensive program for enterprises that requires you to buy licenses and shit.

But Linux has OpenOffice, which is free and comes with most Linux distrobutions. It's very similar to Office, don't knock it until you try it.
