But paris was in German command, how could we do that?

I think the canadians had the toughest job, taking the beach but also pushing the germans back like 1 mile or something at juno, not sure if its correct but if its not someone tell me.

mmmh.. thanks for the "rude", spineharvester.. ! i'm one of these stupids frenchs, who live in this stupid country, eating froggs and wearing some stupids "berets"... lol...

as i live in France and as a "fan" of ww2 history, i saw many many of these bunkers and found some littles interestings things while visiting (an u-boat insign and some mg 42 rusty parts) : many of them are not so spacious than in mohaa...inside, for the complex ones, you have a lot of little corridors and the rooms are not very "high".. one thing that's in mohaa and in the reality are theses deadly 'loopholes'...but the game is very close to reality

Draksen,
I appreciated your post. My dad was captain of the medical corps that landed on Omaha beach.
An interesting tidbit......even though my father had nothing to do with the memorial site where the Americans are buried over there, he did pick the site where the dead would be buried. That was his decision. Later it was turned into the beautiful memorial site you see today.
I have also visited Normandy with him.
He showed me one of the bunkers on the beach where he brought in some of the wounded.
I could go on with many stories but thought you might find that one interesting. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts on this subject. Ignore the idiots. They don't have a clue what they're talking about. And yes, they're just stupid kids.

Really to play MOHAA you need to know what it is based on. Unlike the kids

<BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Tahoma, Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Untersturmfuhrer Draksen:
Hi!

I have been last summer to Normandy.
Have seen Omaha beach, Juno Beach, ...
Have walked in St. Lo and Ouistreham.
Have visited the "Musée du débarquement".
Have been/visited the American War Cimetery at Colleville.

I have never been a "USA-fan" nor a "pro-US army"-guy.

But when I was at Colleville, in front of 10,000 white tombs, I have had a strange feeling. I can't describe it.

All I want to say is that I have a great respect for those soldiers.

Of course MOHAA is just a game, but behind it, there is a huge historical event.
It's not Quake, where a Red Goblin fire a protonic-plasma missile on a Yellow Orc-Warrior...
Behind MOHAA there are facts, real military operations, ... in a word : HISTORY

That's why I like Medal of Honor. Hope it will stay "historical" and accurate.

<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

That sounds like an experience you won't be forgetting anytime soon. Did you get any pictures of you on the beach?

That is awesome seeing Omaha beach like that .....as a matter of fact that is why i respect medal of honor so much for doing things like recreating Omaha Beach or even the simple confusion and frenzy of war....(ever notice the first time though you had run for your life moments because you were being sniped from all directions...imagine living though that)....now how I am gonna get to Omaha Beach..

Yeah I would love to see that beach and the place of so much sacrafice....but it is in France and I have had an ass full of the French. I saw what they were like on vacation in French Polynesia in Tahiti and I really understood why Germany wanted to attack France....hell after my trip I was ready to attack the French. Stinky rude people.

But, I also would not want to see the cemetary to see all those people who fought and died for our freedoms....only to see them freely given away by our new cowardice population. Eveyone wants to run around with a flag in their hand but does not know wtf it stands for or means to be free. I would just get pissed seeing all those graves...knowing how angry I would be that I gave my life so some pussy in 2002 could give them away because he is scared.

Just a word about the bunkers :

I have visited 4 bunkers on Omaha Beach and 2 in Brest, Brittany (I have lived in Brest for 8 years, in France, but I am from Finland).

The structure and construction is really close of what you can see in the game.
the concrete construction gives a "cold" feeling. I have seen sometimes fire "evidences" sometimes, but can't be sure if they are "old" evidences (1944-1945) or just new things.
Sometimes you can se wood structures in those bunkers, but they are really in bad conditions (except deep inside the bunker).

LOL

I'm not french, and must admit that they are sometimes "strange". But I have many french friends, I can say that they are VERY FRIENDLY. In France, you can find a lot of older people (60-80 y old) who hate Germans (WWII of course) but in general, French think that we all (germans, french ...) are Europeans or from the West in general (includes USA and CANADA).

Ya, I totally respect the soldiers that where at Omaha Beach. I would love to see the beach sometime. Some people just don't get what those soldiers had to go through. I am 14 years old and I just am... a feeling that cant be explained... how I feel and respect those soldiers.
