Rock, Metal, and some old stuff that I heard as a child. Some of my favorite bands are:

Kyuss, Sepultura, Fear Factory, Meshuggah, Mahavatar, Slayer, Tiamat, The Gathering...to name just a few.

Old bands that I like are, some Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin....not much else.

I also like some of the old alternative stuff...it hit when I was in high school, and was pretty good. Bands like Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Soundgarden, etc.

I'm not very picky when it comes to music. Theres a time and place for every kind of music. But if I had to name a few, then U2, HIM, Metallica and Offspring...

Anything but country or classical is good.

dont make me mak out on yall! Blink 182 is crappy punk. i mean, i fell in love with the girl at the rock show? thats a one night stand. and in Small Things they all sung like girls. they are wannabe punk. they think u have to dress a certain way to be punk. they all got piercings and wearing skate shirts. punk is about the music, not the dress! Nirvana made that up. and its true.

If you want to listen to punk, listen to bands that arent on major labels, actually retain that dirty, crusty, thrash sound and write politically motivated and heartfelt lyrics. THAT is what punk is all about. Pissed off and no radio friendly lyrics..... Blink, Green Day blah blah blah is POP, nothing more, nothing less.

You want punk, listen to this stuff....Powerviolence, Grindcore, Thrash, Crust. Hardcore.

First of all Nirvana is not a punk band, it is a grunge ( pardon my spelling, not sure about it).
Blink 182 or Greenday may have been some sort of punk bands in their early years, in time when they were not comercialized. Now they are comercial bands, almost pop bands ( like NSync, Backstreet Boys and other crap) but a little bit 'heavier' then those I mentioned above. In truth, they are for teenagers that don't like Backstreet Boys and that kind of music. They are not bad bands, but they are not Punk bands either.

Real punk bands are : Sex Pistols, Bad Religion, Clash,etc....

Just for those who have no idea what "pop" means : it stands for "popular" music.

As you've probably pieced it all together already, you don't have to be a boy-band or Britney to be considered POP. As long as your stuff can be exploited to ALL the kiddies out there beyond the milking point, you're POP.

I personally don't care whether music is considered pop or not. If it's good, I'm a happy camper.
