Default PC Problem - 07-24-2004, 01:16 AM

Ok, for the past couple of weeks the stupid hour glass by my pointer keeps popping up and nothing is loading (I dont think so anyways) it wasnt doing this before. now I was just wondering if there is something unusal I have that shouldnt be there, I checked the windows process library tony linked, but not every process is there. is it something running on my pc or possibly a hardware issue?

If your not sure of an .exe and its not on that site tonymontana posted, i found that you can just look it up in the search for files and folders thingy. Once you find the .exe right click on it and, i think if you go to properties it will tell you what company is responsible for that program. You might want to go to add remove programs as well just to make sure that there isnt something installed that you dont know about. Also do a check for viruses, adds, and defragment.

Check your CPU & RAM useage when this is happening, I assume that you have also run virus and spyware checks.

From the sounds of it you got something running in the background, I found from dealing with family and friends PC's this is quite often caused by a virus or a spyware.

Start -> Run -> MSCONFIG -> Startup

Check what's loaded at startup and determine whether or not an executable
should be there: you can't always find the problem by ctrl-alt-del'ing in TM...
