I just saw this in a match I was in. I was trying to man an mg42 and would get sniped everytime I approached it. A heated discussion arose because at least 5 allies were hiding in the water just sniping. I went to spectator mode to see for myself and I couldn't believe it.
Finally, one axis player go so fed-up, he respawed as an ally and proceded to pistol whip each and every sniper. FF wasn't on so it did no damage, but the snipers got so annoyed that they left. Great idea!

LOL i usually just get a KAR98k and proceed to snipe ONLY the allied snipers or anyone that opens fire on me. that pisses them off because they are being targeted specifically

I believe it, this man was there and he saw it with his own 2 eyes, Imnot sure if you were just making a joke or what but dont knock something that you have no background in.
and about the topic, Thats a good way to get rid of snipers but they are a part of the game. If the designers thought they were viable then who are we to question it, If ya dont like them then thats your choice, go play on a modded server, dont mess up the game for others. I personally hate snipers/rockets/shotguns, but all that means is that Im not gonna use them, yea Ill bitch sometimes but mostly I just take more enjoyment when I kill someone using those weapons. so my advice is if there are snipers on tha beach get yourself either mauser scoped or unscoped (I personally prefer unscoped) and start to snipe tha snipers, If ya get killed find another spot. eventually you might wear them down, and if not ohh well move on to another server that is playing a game more to your liking. But please dont do that team killing crap even if ff is not on its still not cool, a distraction is just as bad as gettin killed.

I know snipers were very common, but how common were shotguns? Out of all the books, pictes, and movies I've seen involving WWII, the only time I ever saw a shotgun was in Thin Red Line. Were the more common in the pacific theatre? Anyone know any site that could give me some info about shotguns in WWII?

And that appearance of the shotgun in the Thin Red Line was accurate. Shotguns were used in WWII, but they were very rare, and their usage occurred mainly in the Pacific theatre, where the brush made spotting enemies difficult. So the shotguns were used in such circumstances. However, in MOH the shotgun's appearance is the result of a desire to please the Quake people, who apparently love sprinting head on into machine gunner knowing they will respawn in a couple of seconds.

Shotguns were also used on the Western front, but not *that* often...
And didn't the MP's use shotguns?

You can use shotguns in Multiplayer.Heh.
I prefer using shotgun in the V2 Facility map.And other narrow spaces too.But its horrible in big open spaces..Oh damn you probably know it all.

I expect the reason shotguns, bazookas and sniper rifles were added to MOHAA is because they were used in WWII. I see alot of people complaining about them, especially snipers. I am a Viet Nam era veteran and snipers were used alot back then both in WWII and Viet Nam. And it was not uncommon for a sniper to be shooting people from 1000 yards away. And they did, in fact, hide and they shot from so far away that you never heard the shot, you just saw someone die. One problem with those complaining about snipers is that if the round isn't over in 45-60 seconds they get bored and start whining. The real battles lasted sometimes for days and a sniper was the only chance of moving ahead, they would one by one pick off the enemy, who also were using snipers. This game, I expect, was designed to be realistic. Battles rarely lasted only 45 to 60 seconds, so take a chill pill guys and slow down and make your shots count. In real life, when you get shot you die, there is no such thing as respawning

I know snipers were used extensively in war. That's not new information! However, this is not war, it's a game and a far from realistic. Snipers on Omaha make the game boring and they don't even help their team. Camping in the water is just a selfish way to increase your kill numbers. On DDay, Allies didn't hide on the beach and strategically snipe the pillboxes prevented any German from manning a machine gun.
You want to talk about real war? Then we (Axis) should be able to control artillary on the beach like the Germans did (pre-sighting every spot). We could just blanket the beach with shells.
I respect sniping on any other level, but they ruin the Omaha map. Don't you agree? It sucks on either side.
BTW, I still think it was funny as hell to see the snipers getting pistol whipped.
