DT's set on this tour DID suck because they were the opening act. I saw them on the Train of Thought tour and it was a 4 hour show of just creaming pants repeatedly. I hate to say it James, but if you're going just for Portnoy's solos, you wont see a good one if you see any at all.
at the ToT show, portnoy did a 10 minute solo, then got people from the crowd to come up and play with him.

Who knows. I believe it will be the last stop of the tour. So maybe they'll decide to pull all the stops.

Yer gonna shit yer pants at the awesomeness of DT live, man. Portnoy is a great showman and is technically flawless. Petrucci plays like a consummate professional, even though he looks like a Backstreet Boy now...heh.
John Myung was brilliant as well. He has a very subdued stage presence and kinda gets lost in audio mix a bit, but that could've just been the sound in the venue.
James LaBrie was great when he was on stage...heh. DT's songs tend to get a bit long, with extended instrumental sections (as you know), so James fucks off for long periods of time. His range is truly impressive.
I'm usually not a big fan of keyboards, but Jordan Rudess won me over. He's a genius. Playing note for note with Petrucci and Myung, he's without a doubt one of the modern masters of the instrument.
Take it all in...soak it up. You won't forget this show ever.

if im not mistaken Rudess started TEACHING at age 12 or something. he was a prodigy.
LaBrie is basically only there for singing, so when they have their instrumentals he just goes in the back and does nothing.
