Mapping Brush Question -
09-23-2004, 02:45 PM
Hey all, I am in the process of converting DV, I have decompiled it and edited it. I have taken some brushes out and compiled it to see my progress. All is well except I have some brushes that show up only in MOHAA and not in Radiant. I cannot see them in Radiant at all, only in MOHAA. I want to know what am I doing wrong?
Also, I am trying to put a lamp on a table, how can I make sure it fits on the table just right? its either too high or inside the table, any help would be appreciated.

If yer talking about converting the bsp to map and back to bsp again with mohbsptomap program the only thing that will help you is God. hake:
That program rotts ass and is only useful when learning complex maps. As for the lamp if you mean put it on a table in radiant a model table make sure its on grid 1 and use teh side view on the left of radiant to get it right in place. BTW some of the models dont exactly work well together in radiant.

Ic, yeah I am using the BSPtoMAP Converter but its version 2 with more features, such as it does a 1:1 brush ratio convert, not so bad. I know its buggy, but I have the time so I figure why not attempt it....oh thanks btw on the lamp thing, I appreciate it!
Was bugging me to DEATH!

In case anyone was having the same problem as me in any event, tltrude has given me a solution, it is to make a brush around the area that the werid brush is supposed to be located, and then select inside and delete it! Thanks soo much tltrude I appreciate it all!

Hmm would be interested to see this new decompiler, been using the old one with all its faults and numerous errors.
No big deal and recreated the bridge in 2 weeks

would have been much easier with a decent decompiler tho oOo:
So any links to the superior one would be appreciated.
Thx.

Hmm my guess is that you have certain filters on in radiant.
Go to VIEW/FILTER/ALL
Hopefuly this will show up your missing radiant brushes.

He's right that quite possibly could be the problem. Remember one thing though. This is a decompiler not a end all be all of map recreation. If yer dillegent enough sure try and and convert but Im tellin gyou yer gonna end up up with severe mapping errors, glitches and all kindsa stupid shit new compiler or not. Just dont want to see yer hard work get fubar. Peace.

I appreciate the concern you have GC, I really do. It is one of those things that I just kinda wanna try out even though I already know the outcome. I know I will have errors, I know the fps *might* be lower, I know it *might* not turn out that great. I have considered all the factors that go into redoing a map, and I think its worth the try. If nothing else, I have gained ALOT more knowledge in terms of MOHAA mapping just by doing this one project. So all in all, I find it as a success allready because of that.
Thanks all that helped me, I cannot be greatfull enough!
